England defeated Australia by 49 runs on day four of the fifth Ashes Test at the Kia Oval on Monday.
With the victory, the Englishmen also drew the series 2-2 after their hopes of winning the series were washed away by rain in the fourth Test.
England lost the first two Tests and it looked all over for the home side but they made an excellent comeback and made it 2-2.
Stuart Broad got his fairytale as the pacer took a match-winning on the last ball he bowled.
Australia started day five in a very commanding position while batting at 135-0 in 38 overs.
David Warner was removed after just three overs into the game by Chris Woakes.
After Warner’s wicket, Usman Khawaja could not stand on the pitch for so long as he was removed by Woakes as well.
Marnus Labuschagne could not do anything special as well as he fell prey to Mark Wood for just 13 runs.
After Labuschagne’s wicket, Australia got a much-needed breakthrough with Steve Smith and Travis Head forming a 95-run partnership.
After this partnership, the Aussies, once again, looked in a comfortable position but not for too long.
The visitors lost four wickets in four overs after Head’s removal, where important batters like Smith, and Mitchell Marsh had to walk back to the pavilion.
The skipper Pat Cummins was also dismissed for just nine runs.
But after Cummins’ wicket, Australia, for once, thought they can chase the target with Alex Carey and Todd Murphy staying but the latter was removed by Broad.
However, right before Murphy’s wicket, Broad once again played mind games with the Aussie — similar to what he did with Labuschagne in the first inning — by swapping the bails on the wicket as he was walking back to prepare to bowl his final ball of the over.
Australia’s last wicket was also taken by Broad as the visitors were all out for 334 runs.
England scored 283 during their first innings, and Australia replied with 295 on the scoreboard, however, England followed BazBall and scored 395 in their second inning, setting a target of 384 for the visitors, which they could not chase.
Chris Woakes was named the player of the match as well the Player of the Series for his heroics.
